A volcano in Karo, North Sumatera, Indonesia has come to life since its last eruption in 2010. Mount Sinabung has begun spewing ash as of today. An official said:
"Hot clouds were seen rising 2,500 meters to the east-southeast and 3,500 meters to the south."
People were also told to remain alert for a possible flood of cold lava from the volcano amid the intensifying rains nowadays. The alert level for the volcano is set for 4 and over 2,000 people have been displaced from the ongoing volcanic activity.
Among this, a deadly 6.5 Earthquake took place on the 16th. The earthquake was in Jakarta and could be felt as far away as 124 miles (200 kilometers). Three people were killed and many were severely damaged along with many buildings. The tremors lasted for about 30 seconds.
A 62-year-old man in Ciamis and an 80-year-old woman in Pekalongan city were killed when the buildings they were in collapsed, a national disaster mitigation agency spokesman said. A 34-year-old woman from the city of Yogyakarta died when she fell while running out of her house.
Damage was heaviest in the Tasikmalaya, Pangandaran and Ciamis regions of West Java Province near the epicenter. As these events continue to pick up around the world, what will be the next disaster? It seems there is a new volcano or earthquake story every week! It's clear that the world needs to repent as we're clearly running out of time.
