I usually post about my own foodie creations, but this weekend I was treated to the works for my birthday. My wife did very well, booking me a a round of golf with some of my best friends at the Heritage, which I posted about yesterday and also an overnight in a beautiful Fourstar hotel. If you know me, you'll know I love a good steak and a bottle or a few glasses of Rioja. Spanish wines and Italian wines tend to be my favourites.

I hope it's OK to post here about an excellent Foodie experience of a dinner at a nice restaurant using my own photos? If not, please let me know and I won't do it again. Now back to the vino tinto. There were three Spanish red options and two Italian red options, but in the end I opted for this Rioja, which I must admit ended up being a great choice and complemented the meal really well, particularly the Steak main course.

Steak on a bed of mushrooms and peppercream sauce

The steak was really nice and cooked exactly how I like it. Truth be told, I could easily have eaten two of them, but that would have been greedy wouldn't it. The steak came with chunky chips which were tasty. I usually opt for potatoes and vegetables, but I was more in the mood for chips to dip into the peppercream sauce on this particular evening. Needless to say I polished the plate.

This is what my wife ordered and she also really enjoyed it, and opted for a Sauvignon blanc white wine to accompany her main, as for reasons I cannot fathom she doesn't like red wine. The presentation was lovely and the service was great. I did feel a little bit knobish taking photos of all the food. The waiters must have thought I was a food critic or the like.

A lovely touch

As I was saying, I felt a bit knobish taking all of the photos, so I didn't photograph our deserts, which were a Pavlova for me and a Chocolate brownie for herself. I did capture of photo of this lovely treat which was waiting for us when we arrived into our hotel room, though. What a lovely thought, it's these little things which make all the difference for me. This gives you an idea of how nice the desserts were.

That's about it

That's all she wrote as they say. Again, hopefully it's OK to include foodie posts relating to eating out, if not, just give me the heads up and I'll know for again.

Thanks as always for stopping by.

Peace Out
