Wow, 5 x increase in electricity costs, that really sucks. Is there enough sun in Finland to consider investment in Solar solution and maybe have a net surplus to sell back or are you too far North and light deprived for too long per year?
One of my friends recently had a baby with a congenital issue that is very rare and can be extremely debilitating and cause a raft of large problems in development, both physically and mentally. They don't know yet what this means for their child, but it isn't something that they were expecting to deal with.
That's very tough on your friend. These sort of things or hearing about a healthy Father in his 40s dying from a heart attack or a healthy Mother in her 30s getting terminal cancer always puts things in perspective and whatever little things are bugging you are actually inconsequential in the grand scheme of things and just having good health and decent standard of living is actually something to celebrate and be very happy about.
I hear you on the procrastination and not selling assets in good times. I almost wear it as a badge of honour that I don't sell and I am long on X, Y or Z, but really we should all decide when investing in something, what we would be happy to sell at, be it 2x, 3x, 10x or whatever and then stick to the plan and execute, as we all have experience of ones that half, quarter and dwindle to nothing in value. It's all about discipline, and I am like you and need to listen to my own advise here too, have a plan and stick to it.
