Plenty of food for thought in this post @empress-eremmy and I guess it depends on ones situation and how risk averse they are. For me it is certainly just a side gig as you call it, but a very enjoyable one. There is certainly scope there for people to invest (some might say speculate) on crypto assets and have success, but there is always the risk that you pick some bad options and dwindle away some of your funds, but I guess one 100 bagger could change your fortunes very quickly indeed.
Like you I post every day and I am earning a little as I go and I am lucky that I have never had to dip into my Hive funds, so it's all still there. I think if we manage to keep up the daily posts, then five years from now, we could be doing very well from the side gig and it may even become the main gig. If someone told you twenty years ago about Youtubers and the money they could make, would you have believed them or even understood what they were talking about? Society always moves to newer and different things and web3 will be one such evolution in my opinion, we are only beginning.
