To say that I hate a particular type of decoration is a bit strong for me. I prefer to say that I can't tolerate them or that they don't appeal to my tastes. Decoration is not my forte, it never has been and when I have to decorate something it is as simple as possible, that is the reason why the decorations that have many ornaments are the ones that my eyes and therefore my mind can't tolerate. This happens to me especially with the walls of the house. I don't like walls cluttered with decorations because I feel that a negative impact occurs in my brain that overwhelms me and generates a discomfort that makes me hot, however, as I live with my parents I must be tolerant and control myself.
I remember about a year ago, when I walked into my house, I felt like I was entering a very tasteless gallery exhibition. The four walls of the house were adorned with facades of cows, geese, pictures, key chains. It was extremely horrible the negative visual impact that all this generated for me. However, that was what my parents liked, so if I wanted to take it down, I had to ask for permission. Permission I was denied many times since they liked their decorations.
When you arrive from the street to work, you want to find an unoccupied environment, only with the necessary because this creates harmony, at least for me it brings me satisfaction and tranquility the walls painted with warm colors and that above all are unoccupied. At least a nice picture is passable but that flock of birds, houses and key chains stresses me out. Being a person who seeks peace, I went straight to my room where I do not have a single ornament on the walls, the detail is that to get to my room I had to go through the living room and that made me sick to my stomach. My dad told me that I was exaggerating, my mom was more understanding, so one day my mom asked me to help her redecorate and I took the opportunity to hide the facade of geese and houses.
I remember my mom didn't want to vote for them because they had sentimental value to her but at least she was condescending and allowed me to wrap them in newspaper and keep them. To this day I don't know where they are. Congratulations, apparently they were lost. However, the facade of the vaquitas remained but it is less now and that doesn't cause me as much visual stress.
It is not easy to live with people whose tastes are so different from mine, but I have to respect and tolerate as much as possible. I don't understand how one can be so attached to some objects, to the point of not being able to let go of them. I understand that there are very important details that are treasured because they evoke beautiful memories, but they are few for me. I believe that the best treasures are kept in the mind and heart or in a specific box for this purpose that does not take away space from the areas of the home where you want to have peace of mind.
Another decoration that I don't like is the one on the fridge, that pile of magnets with places where one traveled to with lots of souvenirs is overwhelming. How beautiful is a fridge with only one detail or none at all. My minimalist tendency may be a bit extreme, maybe I border on simplicity but there is nothing better than a free environment that brings peace and quiet. Warm spaces that relax my mind and renew my strength are the ultimate for me. When I have my own house, I will make sure that the walls and the fridge are free of all ornaments and if I have to place something to decorate it will be a picture that outlines peace.
