Hello everyone, come with me as I share the story behind the beginning of my crocheting journey.
I learned how to crochet at the age of 9. From making hats, to skirts to table cloths and doormats.They were just to while away time during vacations and then show them off at school the next academic year.
Somewhere in 2020, I started going to the beach alot and anytime I went I wished I had a bralette.
It was during the covid 19 era so it was so hard to even get normal clothes to buy than to get beach wears because everything was on pause.My region in Ghana(Western Region) wasn’t on lockdown but school and workplaces were closed down leaving certain places we could just go to purchase basic needs provided we maintained social distancing and adhered to all protective measures.
I was getting so bored at home and really frustrated about how I was going to make a beach bralette because I started going to the beach almost everyday.“Why don’t I just try making one myself”, I thought. I quickly dismissed the thought because I didn’t know how to sew.
Just when the boredom became so unbearable,that’s when I remembered I knew how to crochet.
Fortunately, I passed by the market the next day and I saw a yarn shop which was about to close and right there it hit me,that was my way out.I bought a pack of yarn with no idea what exactly I was going to do with them.I got home and started making a bralette. In no time I was done with it but it looked too simple for me so I started adding ruffles and I fell in love.This was just a one time thing for me as I had no plans to touch my hook again but the universe had other plans.
I took this picture that day and that was a turning point of my life.
I had about 17 people asking me if they could place their orders for the same thing.”Orders?!” I asked myself because this was not a business advertisement,it just a simple beach picture.Anyway, I ceased the opportunity and that was how I became a crocheter again after 11 years.
I still have a special place in my heart for beach wears and my favorite things to make are bralettes.
