Sometimes I'm afraid that when I stop using my camera, I'll get a little rusty. Photography is also a muscle that you have to train if you are not a professional -as in my case, although it earns me some money, I don't exactly make a living from it. In order not to get rusty, I sometimes go out to my patio where I have some banana trees planted, cut out a section of one of their large leaves and take it to my tiny studio made of PVC pieces and LED lighting. In the first photo, I placed that section in a curved plane, sprayed some water on top and placed my external flash opposite me, so that the light would cast some shadow and give volume to the drops and veins of the leaf. In the other two images, I placed the light under the leaf, and took a single drop of water as my subject, interesting how the tiny furrow running under that drop made a whimsical drawing that looks like an alien face.
A veces temo que al dejar de usar mi cámara, me oxide un poco. La fotografía también es un músculo que hay que entrenar si uno no es profesional -como es mi caso, que aunque me reporta algún dinero, no vivo de ella precisamente. Por no oxidarme, a veces salgo a mi patio donde tengo sembradas algunos plátanos, recorto una sección de alguna de sus grandes hojas y la llevo a mi minúsculo estudio hecho de piezas de PVC e iluminación LED. En la primera foto, coloqué en plano curvo esa sección, rocié algo de agua encima y coloqué mi flash externo opuesto a mi, para que la luz proyectara algo de sombra y diera volumen en las gotas y en las nervaduras de la hoja. En las dos otras imágenes, coloqué la luz debajo de la hoja, y tomé de sujeto una sola gota de agua, interesante cómo el surco minúsculo que corre debajo de esa gota hizo un dibujo caprichoso que parece una cara alienígena.
