Interesting is the legend of the Tower of Babel, a thousand times built and a thousand times destroyed to its foundations. It appears in several very ancient texts, and it is said that its first version may have been built three thousand years before Christ. Although this post is not about ancient legends and their possible meanings, the title came to me because of the drama of this scene captured some time ago. The fury of the clouds that afternoon against the unhappy crane stoically pointing skyward and the evening light tinting everything with a dire omen, led me to change the title to something better than "Cranes and Blue Skies" or something like that. I've taken several shots of these construction marvels because I like the contrast of the distinctive yellow in most of them against the blue, cloudless sky. The majesty and the tons of questions I have about how they are assembled and disassembled, how to get up there, what it looks like from up there and so many more things make them frequent subjects for my photos. I feel like a Sheldon of cranes!
Of all these, the first one is my favorite, of course.
Interesante la leyenda de la Torre de Babel, mil veces construida y mil veces destruida hasta los cimientos. Aparece en diversos textos muy antiguos, y se dice que su primera versión pudo haberse construido tres mil años antes de Cristo. Aunque este post no trata de antiguas leyendas y sus posibles significados, el título se me antojó por el dramatismo de esta escena capturada hace un tiempo ya. La furia de las nubes de aquella tarde contra la infeliz grúa que apunta estoicamente hacia el cielo y la luz del atardecer tiñéndolo todo de un augurio funesto, me llevó a cambiar el título, mejor que "Grúas y cielos azules" o algo así. He hecho varias tomas de estas maravillas de la construcción porque me gusta el contraste del amarillo característico en la mayoría de ellas contra el cielo azul y despejado. La majestuosidad y las toneladas de preguntas que tengo sobre cómo se arman y desarman, cómo se sube allí, cómo se ve desde allá arriba todo y tantas cosas más, las hacen motivo frecuente para mis fotos. Me siento como un Sheldon de las grúas!
De todas estas, la primera es mi favorita, por supuesto.
