Good day to you all my tutors and learners here on Hive.
The best moment I love about weddings is not the event but the fun that happens. What I love most is the wedding night or honeymoon or whatever it is called 😂. But anyway today I wasn’t asked to discuss that. So let me just talk about the wedding event itself.
I have been to several wedding ceremonies. Some are boring and some are amazing ones while some are just partially amazing. This is because the boring ones are just hosted without any fun or just some that lack organization. I don't see those weddings worth attending because most of the time you would be forced to leave there regretfully.
The amazing ones are always fulfilled. The programs are well-organized, planned, and interesting. No dulling moments from the beginning till the end. The partly amazing are interesting ones with good event plans but at the end of it, you get disappointed by the food served or not even get served at all.
So all these should be something we get to learn along the line as we keep attending different occasions. We get to learn from their mistakes and try to avoid repeating them.
Though I don't have a lot to say about this because I would be a groom and from the culture of Yoruba land the wedding ceremony paparazzi and event plans are mostly done by the bride's family. The event location and other plans too. This is to honor the bride for her patience and the honor she brought to her family.
But still, if I am to decide on how I want the event to look or make some plans about it then I would make sure I don't fail on all of these.
The first thing I want to see happen is the aspect of food servings. I would make sure there is nothing like one section cooking separately and the other part having their meal. Everyone attending the ceremony would be served generally. What people don't know about weddings is that most of the time it's sad and annoying when someone honors your event and goes back home without being served. It is perfect to serve them and then if they decide not to take it it's better.
I have been to a wedding ceremony where those in charge of serving were so partial with their servings. They were so disorganized and had to skip some sets of people because their faces didn’t look familiar or even maybe by mistake. When the event was almost over, and they were about to leave, I heard them curse the program and the couples. It must have hurt a lot.
I don't see any essence of having a mighty ceremony where everyone would come, eat, laugh, dance, and have their way home. Then the aftermath of the ceremony would be war between couples when there is little or no amount of money left to cater to the family. I would love an average wedding that would go nicely with entertainment and fun. If there is not enough money for the hall then I would be using an open field. Anyone is fine.
I am not wedding freaked. All I am after is my life after the wedding and also getting to be appreciative of everyone who honored the event. Weddings are cool but I have seen many big and luxurious weddings that never got a happy home. And I have also seen some little weddings, even more of a parlor wedding that yielded a beautiful home and countless anniversaries. So it's a choice to make. No one can force or decide for you.
This is my response to the prompt for week 81 edition 2 on the hive learners community and the topic to be discussed is ON YOUR WEDDING DAY.
