Gone are the days when the quote "The patient dog eats the fattest bone" was in existence, but now I think it's revised to "The smartest dog eats the fattest bone" so I think that's nothing but the reality and fact about what's happening in the world today. People never see patience as a heavenly virtue anymore but consider it an attribute of a fool and an ignorant fellow.

Does patience pay off?.
My mum would always tell us to have patience, for everything would surely come to place at the perfect time. I believed in patience and tried understanding the fact that with patience whatever is yours would always be yours. A grain of rice meant for a chicken would never be swallowed by a human being. That's just an attribute of patience.
What is patience?.
Patience (or forbearance) is the ability to endure difficult circumstances. It may involve perseverance in the face of delay; tolerance of provocation without responding in disrespect/anger or forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties, or being able to wait for a long amount of time without getting irritated or bored.
Just as the definition of patience from Wikipedia has it to be the ability to endure so I would say patience has some other additional attributes like endurance, perseverance, tolerance, and humbleness. So patience let alone is like a coat bagging some other heavenly virtue together. This means a patient fellow would have tolerance, a patient fellow would be able to endure and all remain humble.

In addition, life itself needs an individual to be patient about it. There are things in life that you can't find a solution to unless you have the master key at hand which is patience. Knowledge, age, and wealth. No matter how hard you try to change the hands of the clock or how much you cry you still can't have these three things if you are not patient enough.
Knowledge
You can't learn without patience, as the key to essential knowledge is having patience. It might be frustrating and disgusting, at times we face difficulties from our staff, bullies from mates, and many other things. But it takes only a patient soul to adapt to the environment and keep it going.
A short story
There was a day I was given an assignment at school. I realized we had already done something related at school and it was quite simple. Though I never did much, I understood the concept just as the teacher had explained it to us. Then we were given the assignment to take home for the day. I already thought since it is the same thing we were taught in class then I would just apply the formulas and solve it.
When I got home I didn't bother doing anything related to the assignment till it was a day to the deadline then I majestically went to take it out and started working on it with confidence. I already spent hours on the work I should solve within minutes. I got pissed off as I felt there won't be a solution to it. I closed the book and threw it somewhere out of anger.
After minutes of sitting and thorough thinking, I went back to take the book again and began to glance at it. I tried again for the second time but the day is about to end without getting a solution.
I was so furious at myself for not being able to solve them and get an answer to them. After working so much on it then I had to take it to my brother if he had a solution to it. I never wished to take it to him at all. He checked my work and told me only if I could be patient I am going to get it. I looked at him and smiled. After that I took it back to another corner to study it again, it never took me up to ten minutes before I could realize my mistake of just a change in symbols. It turned my work around making it strange for me to understand. Only a patient soul could achieve knowledge.

Age
There is nothing you can do about this. No shortcut to add to your age which is one reason why an elder would always remain an elder. Age is one thing you can never get hastily. No matter how hard you try you would have to be patient for the time to come before you could attain such age in your life.
Wealth
Only if we understand that it is not our hard work or the smart work that fetches us wealth but the grace of God is what's sustaining us. If we could look back to many who are also doing the same job we are doing but never made it, many have the strength, the ability, and are well capable but they are not opportune to such advantage as you are. So wealth status isn't judged by hard work or smartness. But a hard and smart working individual with patience would surely become wealthy if he is destined to be.
