Miñe sunbathing // Miñe tomando el sol [ENG-ESP]
This month has been very cold. Sometimes, getting up early in the morning is a challenge. However, we have options to condition the body, such as a cup of hot drink. But Miñe uses another resource: taking advantage of the first rays of sunlight. But why does she have to do it right on our bed? All photos are my own, taken with my Oppo RealMe 7 phone.
¿Qué tal? Éste mes ha sido muy frío. A veces, levantarse temprano en las mañanas es un reto. Sin embargo, tenemos opciones para ir acondicionando el cuerpo, como una taza de bebida caliente. Pero Miñe usa otro recurso: aprovechar los primeros rayos de luz del sol. Pero, ¿por qué tiene que hacerlo justo en nuestra cama? It is worth mentioning that my wife takes advantage of these days to take out the thick blankets that we don't use in other months of the year. But Miñe also takes the opportunity to use them. Because she waits for us to fall asleep and then she climbs into bed, and snuggles close to our feet in some leftover blanket. Once we get up and make up the bed, she takes the opportunity to sunbathe. She climbs back into bed and settles on the side that gets the sunlight. Hey, that's the side I'm sleeping on!
Cabe destacar de que mi esposa aprovecha éstos días para sacar las cobijas gruesas que no usamos en otros meses del año. Pero Miñe también aprovecha de usarlas. Porque espera que nos quedemos dormidos y entonces se sube a la cama, y acurrucarse cerca de nuestros pies en algún sobrante de la cobija. Una vez que nos levantamos y arreglamos la cama, ella aprovecha de tomar el sol. Se vuelve a subir a la cama y se acomoda en el lado que llega la luz del sol. ¡Hey, de ese lado estoy durmiendo yo!
In particular, I prefer sunlight to enter houses or rooms in the morning, rather than in the afternoon. Why? Maybe I will explain it in another post. But Miñe has also made good use of this benefit. Sometimes, while we entertain ourselves doing some things in the kitchen, living room, or outside, such as eating breakfast, chatting, using the computer, or taking care of the plants, we wonder: Where is Miñe? And then we peek into the room, and.... yes, she's in bed sunbathing, and it looks like she's posing for some pictures.
En lo particular, prefiero que la luz del sol entre en las casas o habitaciones en las mañanas, en vez de en la tarde. ¿Por qué? Quizás lo explique en otro post. Pero Miñe también ha aprovechado bien éste beneficio. A veces, mientras nos entretenemos haciendo algunas cosas en la cocina, sala, o afuera, tales como desayunar, conversar, usar la computadora o cuidar las plantas, nos preguntamos: ¿Dónde está Miñe? Y entonces nos asomamos en la habitación, y... sí, está en la cama tomando sol, y parece que posa para unas fotos.
Ahhh! Come on! What is this? A strategy to keep her out of bed? It won't matter if we do. She'll wait for us to get out and she'll climb back in.
¡Ahhh! ¡Por favor! ¿Qué és esto? ¿Una estrategia para que no la bajen de la cama? No importará si lo hacemos. Esperará que salgamos y ella se subirá de nuevo.
Another place she likes to sunbathe is at the bedroom window. My wife has her desk at the foot of the window. It is a special place. There she reads, studies, writes, plans, checks her social networks, and sometimes eats. Many times, Miñe sees her busy there and decides to keep her company, riding on her legs, or on top of the desk. But when it is still morning and she sees that she can also take advantage of the morning heat, she climbs up to the window and takes the opportunity to stay there, safe in the knowledge that her owner is nearby.
Otro de los lugares que le gusta tomar sol es en la ventana de la habitación. Mi esposa tiene su escritorio al pie de la ventana. Es un lugar especial. Allí lee, estudia, escribe, planifica, revisa sus redes sociales, y a veces come. Muchas veces, Miñe la ve allí ocupada y decide hacerle compañía, montándose en sus piernas, o encima del escritorio. Pero cuando aún es de mañana y ve que también puede sacar partido del calor matutino, se sube a la ventana y aprovecha de permanecer ahí con la seguridad de que su dueña está cerca.
This year Miñe will be 12 years old. So we see her as what she is: a senior cat. Although we know she is not a human, we do like to give her consideration and respect as she doesn't have the abilities, strength and habits of young cats, but her character and personality are still intact! (Like biting us when we try to get her off the bed). And although we have tried to get her to have her own bed (once we bought it for her, and at other times we have made it for her) we have not been able to get her to get used to it.
Éste año Miñe cumplirá 12 años de edad. Así que la vemos como lo que es: una gata de la tercera edad. Aunque sabemos que no es un humano, sí nos gusta darle consideración y respeto ya que no tiene las capacidades, fuerzas y costumbres de los gatos jóvenes. ¡Pero su carácter y personalidad siguen intactos! (Como éso de mordernos cuando intentamos bajarla de la cama). Y aunque hemos buscado que tenga su propia cama (una vez se la compramos, y en otras se la hemos fabricado) no logramos que se acostumbre a ella.
