#KISS: Simple, practical and functional ☑️
The garden can serve to beautify, decorate and identify a space. And with respect to this last function, sometimes it gives signs of how the people who occupy the place are and what they think, by the selection of plants, their maintenance and beauty.
We already know that there are people who are dedicated to making spectacular gardens, combining various plants of different sizes, shapes and colors, and this has a lot of merit. But not everyone has this gift. In fact, it is the subject of study. So, dear neighbor, dear merchant: if you have not studied it and you do not have that gift, why do you make your garden so complicated?
I am inclined to have gardens without many elements, that are easy to maintain and represent. In short: simple, practical and functional.
Simple.
A well mowed and watered lawn is beautiful. Besides, there are several types that we can choose, with a very small leaf, or a larger one, or perhaps another one that, although it is not a lawn itself, covers the ground in a similar way and even raises small yellow flowers. Whatever you choose, the uniformity that reflects that well-defined green color in these spaces transmits peace, cleanliness, order and freedom.🌟
Practical.
It is easy to maintain: mow it at the right height, prune it at the edges, so that it does not reach areas we do not want, so that we keep the aesthetics and safety. Regarding this last aspect, we already know that it could be dangerous for the grass to reach the steps or the walkway of passers-by⚠️. An elderly person or a child could slip or trip. That's why it's kept mowed back several inches from the walkway. Good thing it's just grass! No plants with roots that stick out of the relief or spread out underneath and break up walkways.
A small experience. Some people don't understand the value of simplicity in this regard. About eight years ago I was asked to do the front garden of a meeting place. Because several people attended, there were a lot of ideas, and I know little about gardening! That's why I gave importance to what they told me. But at the same time I remembered that these were the same people who had "designed" the previous garden, which lacked care, form and beauty🤦🏻♂️. So it was up to me to stick to the new approved plan: pull up all those plants, clear the area and plant some grass. And guess what? Hardly anyone helped me. The CPA, the one with perhaps the least knowledge, was the one in charge of doing the landscaping. Sorry to write this post away from home, because I can't show you the before and after pictures.🤷🏻♂️
Functional.
Gardens of this kind meet the objectives. We make a space profitable. Also, it makes an area or place identifiable. Over there, in the corner where there is a very nice lawn." Don't you think that is a good reference? And because it's easy to maintain, it makes the important things work and flow. Many times, the garden is not the most important thing in that place, but it is what takes up the most time and effort. Generally, what matters is what goes on inside the structure: courses, legal paperwork, the home itself, etc. Simple gardens help us focus on the most important things.
Let's avoid getting wrapped up in things we have not mastered. Let's take a step back from those things that, although we know them, we are not willing to lift a finger to take care of (as happened to me in the experience I told you about) and let others take care of them in their own way. Simple, practical and functional will always be one of the best options in everything💡. See you next time!
