I'm not so sure what to think about it.

I'm talking about recurring 'free' upvotes to some account after a delegation or transfer to the provider of said upvotes. My first impression is that it might be a scam. I'm a bit confused though because I just noticed that this nifty frontend I'm using, PeakD.com, has one such system a built right in to the wallet. Surely those who run PeakD would never endorse any type of scam, right? Right?

I feel the creeping specter of abuse looming about as well.

To me it seems like the logical conclusion of such a system is that the reward pool is distributed because of obligation instead of as a response to valuable content, i.e. curation. Artists will suffer unless, and perhaps even if, they join the income scheme. Even then it changes the gradient from the merit of content produced to one of the size of some stake. Doesn't leave a good impression on me.

Yet maybe that's just my straw man.

I know that @enforcer48 has studied abuse on Steem in the past, maybe that account will comment. I'd be interested to see what was written. I'd also be interested to hear what you think about this subject and perhaps receptive to your persuasion even.

It's possible I've got it all wrong, and stake based income is the only reason tons of people aren't starving around the world or something. Maybe since stores stopped accepting cash in the pandemic now they only take HIVE or HBD. I don't know what's going on out there. I've been inside.
