"Humbug" a five minute freewrite for #365daysofwriting challenge

Taking a one day break from writing the next part of my novel, this is @mydivathings' #365daysofwriting challenge (https://steemit.com/fiction/@mydivathings/day-348-365-days-of-writing-challenge)

Using this Photo by Elijah O'Donnell on Unsplash I have written a short five minute freewrite

It was the first of December and Margo was fed up with Christmas already.

The shop she worked in - BeautyBuys - had been playing Christmas tunes since mid-September and if she heard Jingle Bells one more time she thought she might snap and actually kill someone.

Only another 24 days to go, she thought. And then it will be over for another year.

When did it come to this?

She remembered she used to look forward to the festive season. She remembered she used to get excited even.

Now from the moment Summer ended all she could think of was when will it fucking END!

She was fairly sure she wasn't the only one to feel like this. She had seen more than one of her customers turn on their heels and storm out when we wish you a merry christmas had started blaring out of the shops speakers in the middle of November.

The winter festivals were supposed to be about cheering up the darkest months of the year. But by the shortest day she couldn't wait to rip the lights down and plunge BeautyBuys into darkness.

I used themostdangerouswritingapp.com to write the story in five minutes (and then tidied it up a bit in google docs afterwards):
