The US under Trump has already started space militalization. In June, US President Donald Trump ordered the establishment of a Space Force as the sixth branch of the US military, saying that “American dominance in space” should begin. Last week, the US House of Representatives approved the $716 billion National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for next year which, among other provisions, requires the Pentagon to develop a “space warfighting policy” by the end of March 2019.
Maybe, just maybe, the next war we have will not be a nuclear war against each other on earth, but in Space. Think about it. It makes sense, it will decrease casualties, and allow us to protect our Earth from direct catastrophe, and also display a countries' technological advancement as only the most advance can choose to pursue their interest in space.
Space militarization is a rather new topic, and Russia seems unsatisfied that US is unwilling to cooperate with them and the rest of the world for an international agreement, and pursuing their own agenda. Who can blame them? Wouldn't you do the same, wanting to dominate in space if you can, to ensure that your own interests on Earth is secure? I can imagine that the first country to establish a strong space dominance would also be dominant in Earth, as those who do not even have the resources to compete on Earth can only dream about going to space.
