How to Win Friends and Influence People in Steemit(Part 1, Chapter 3)

I can’t imagine a man really enjoying a book and reading it only once.

How to win friends and influence people (by Dale Carnegie) is a one of the best books about building good social interactions. If you want to win the hearts of your fellow Steemians, then you should read this book. If you are a leader and you wish to step up your social skills or a tiny minnow who would love to be have the whales following you then this book review is perfect for you.

In this chapter Dale Carnegie teaches that we should bait the hook to suit the fish. It's quite funny that we have enough sense to know that when fishing, we should use things that the fishes like(things like worms) instead of what we like(ice-cream) but sometimes we do not have the insight to use this same principle when dealing with people .

When dealing with people, always talk in terms of what the other person wants and not what you want, that is the surest way to get the person's attention and make them do what you want. Human beings are naturally selfish and when you understand this and accept it you can use it to your advantage.

Let me bring it home to our Steem blockchain. So many newbies come to this space and all they can think about is what they can take. If only they would stop for a moment and ask; 'what does Steemit want from me'. What can I give to Steemit. There is no where in the world where givers tend to be in lack. Ask not what Steemit can do for you but what you can do for Steemit. * What do the whales want? What do the dolphins want. What about the minnows? What do they want? If you can give it to them you are going to be loved and your posts will not be starved of affection.

Human beings are naturally selfish and self centered. The man who can always talk in terms of what the other person wants will be at a huge advantage.

No one likes to be told what to do and the only way to make anyone do anything is to make them want to do it

When you are able to create an eager want in the other person you can make them to do your bidding. Remember that people do not want to be told what to do. They want to do what they want. So always talk in terms of what they want, explain how doing what you want them to do would be beneficial to them.

You can employ this technique when inviting your friends to Steemit. Instead of just telling them how great the platform is and how it is working for you, and how you want them to accumulate Steem Power to give you robust upvotes, you should also tell them how it would be beneficial to them.

If you are talking to fashion designers, explain to them how Steemit can be used to promote their business. If you are talking to musicians you can tell them about Dsound and Steemsongs and how they can reward their fans by upvoting their comments and how they can upload their videos on Dtube and make money from it.

If you are talking to digital artists or designers, you can tell them about Steemians like @skyleap who do not blog but use their gift to make Steemit colourful. Lawyers, doctors, teachers, hairdressers, dancers. There is no profession that does not have a place in this blockchain.
