“I wanted to talk about it. I wanted to scream. I wanted to yell. But all I could was whisper “I’m fine...”

To the one who needs a hand to get out of the mess, the one who needs ears to listen to him/her but doesn’t know what to speak, the one who needs a heart to understand him/her, the one who battles darkness, the one who needs help but can’t ask for. Because it is awkward, uncomfortable, and you know nobody would understand. Nobody would understand why you break down, why you cry under the shower, why you press a pillow against your mouth and shout, why at times you don't have a control over your anger. You are the one who experiences a thousand emotions every single day. You might have spent so many sleepless nights battling with nothing but self destructive thoughts. There might have been mornings when you didn't want to get up from bed. The unknown fear that crumpled you, made you shut down and get lost into darkness haunts you every other day. Sometimes the biggest achievement for you might have been just being alive and breathing, just surviving that one night when you wanted to end up everything. How helplessly you cry for help, yet never find the guts to ask for it. To everyone around you, you are just okay, the one who laughs and lives. You wouldn’t tell anyone about the monster that controls you. You know you need to do something to make yourself feel better, but you just don't know how to. You know people love you, but you don't feel like they do. You desperately want to be well but you just can't seem to get there. The most difficult battle will always be the one you fight with yourself. It's okay not to be okay. It’s okay to ask for help because you deserve to be happy. Mental health matters as much as your physical health. Take that one step today and help yourself. We need to change the culture of this topic and make it okay to speak about mental health. If you know someone who is depressed please try to understand the darkness they are going through. It will be hard to be their friend but it's one of the kindest and noblest things you will ever do. #Letstalk #Depression #Breakthesilence
