Dimeji was found unconcious at the site of the accident by passers by after the car had sped off .He was rushed to the hospital.
After Jaye got back home from school,she prepared food and awaited the arrival of her siblings. Her siblings came back shortly after and they all ate.
Towards evening,their very fat neighbour,Mama Efe came shouting and crying," Jaye! Jaye!! Where are you o...chineke me oo!" Jaye ran out as fast as possible,she had never seen Mama Efe in such a state before. When she came out, Timi also came out with Funmi, " Children o,its your father oooo,I received a call from the hospital..."
Jaye became alert" What do you mean by that ma? Was he involved in an accident? Which hospital? How did it happen?"
By this time, Mama Efe was out of breathe, she had to sit down and regain all her strength before she continued, " I just received a call from the hospital,I was asked if it was Mama Efe they were talking to? Mr Dimeji's neighbour. I said yes o..I became scared because they had used your father' s number to call me. They said they got my number from his phone.
Then they broke the news,your father was involved in a terrible accident this afternoon when he was returning home... "
Mama Efe stopped talking as her crying increased. Jaye wanted her to go on ,Timi too was getting anxious and scared as to what mama Efe's next statement would be . Jaye said " Is papa going to be alright? "
Mama Efe just continued crying ...finally she said " your father *********"
