This past Saturday, WWE held their annual event Survivor Series in Boston with the theme being War Games. War Games was an event that began in WCW and then was bought over to NXT. While the rules have changed over the years, the match is still reminiscent of the original. Two 5 person teams square off against each other. One giant cage covers two rings. One member from each team start off in the ring and have to grapple for five minutes before another wrestler is allowed to enter. The remaining four members of each team are locked in separate cages and released one at a time every three minutes. The match isn't officially underway until all competitors are in the ring.

Unlike many cage matches, you can't climb out of the cage to win. If you decide to take that route, your team will forfeit and lose. The match continues until there is a pinfall or submission. Not only was the woman's War Game match the first match of the event, but it set the tone for the evening with amazing action.

It was Team Bianca vs. Team Damage CTRL. With the theme song to the event being Black Sabbath's "War Pigs," Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, Asuka and Mia Yim faced off in the first match against Bayley, Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, Nikki Cross and Rhea Ripley. There were kendo sticks, trash cans and lids, a ladder and a table. Nikki Cross, who has returned to her manic persona of NXT, even attempted to handcuff Alexa Bliss to the cage. Asuka went further by introducing poison mist into the match against Rhea Ripley.

Some of the big spots included Rhea Ripley and Mia Yim driving themselves through an upright ladder in the corner. Iyo Sky displaying her flying abilities with a moonsault off the top of the cage. Both Kai and Sky were driven through a table by Becky Lynch as she performed a massive leg drop from the top of the cage. This ended the match with Lynch scoring the pinfall. Kudos to Triple H for his role in bringing the WWE Universe such exciting matches. The other matches were also inspiring, but I had to wait for my heartbeat to slow down after this one!
