Working, through the decades.

In the 50’s 60’s & 70’s it was, ‘Work, rest and play’; the 80’s and 90’s became, ‘Work, work and rest’; And since 2000, it has been ‘Work, work, work!’

Is it not strange how back in the days of our youth, one of our parents worked 40+ hours a week (mostly the dad), had only Sat and Sun to catch up with all the odd jobs around the house, the mowing, washing ect and yet still had time to go on picnics and spend time with the kids.

As I became an adult, the workplace transitioned to 38hrs a week and Saturday morning some people would work (Retail) and casuals was the new ‘in thing’. Women were given the opportunity to enter the workforce as an equal (on paper but not in reality) and become a recognised bread winner. We still had weekends to do around the house, but our kids were being left out of the picture.

By the time the new millennium hit our calenders, there is no such thing as a secure job, our work hours are all over the place, both parents MUST work, and we work everyday of the week and weekends and all hours of the day and night. The “Weekend away” is now whittled down to a few hours watching Tv shows torturing us with exotic locations (the bedroom if your lucky) and far away places overseas (Tasmania!), picnics are a candy you eat and the kids live at the daycare centre and only sleep in beds you provide.

Want all the madness to stop! Want to experience an actual weekend, instead of reading about it! Want to communicate and spend time with those other little humans that eat your food and sleep in your house!

Then make it stop, make it happen, take a step into a freer life and ask us about how we joined a JBT franchise.
