It’s a little slow at work around Xmas so we ended up getting off a little early today. Since it was between-20 and -35 degrees over the weekend it was a little too cold to get the dogs out for a hike. @lindsaybowes puddle-barometers would be all frozen solid here. Today it was only -12 with very little wind so I figured I should get them out for a good run, especially since they’ll be going in a kennel while we travel for the holidays. They deserve a few good runs this week.
It also snowed a bit over the weekend so there is a really nice base down. Not quite enough for skiing yet, but perfect for a little snowshoe.
Walk with me (or should I say #snowshoewithme) through the fields of La Baie, Quebec.
Jax knows he’s going and is just patiently waiting for me to finish with my snowshoes and open that gate behind him.
The view from the back yard. It’s pretty hard to see, but there is a little red dot of a person off to the far right side of the picture in the field. I run into this old guy from time to time back here snowshoeing. I managed to get a head of him to start but I ran into him after I had turned around and we had a little chat about my sailboat not making it into the water this last summer. Next year though, it’s all set.
This is from halfway up the first farmers field. It gives you an idea of how small the little group of houses are where I live. I’m the farthest on the left. As you can see off in the distance, the ocean-barometer is frozen solid as well.
A view of what’s left to climb.
A panoramic and a regular shot from the top of the hill.
A few shots from where I stopped before I headed back. It was absolutely quiet standing in the middle of the field. Very relaxing just taking in all in for a moment.
Here’s Gibson relaxing with me. Once he gets tired he doesn’t leave my side at all.
And one last shot coming up on the back of the house. It was a short hike today but I’ll take what I can get considering I would have normally been at work for this time.
