Review: Iced Lavender Latte

Lavender Iced Latte

Introduction:

Welcome to a delicate and aromatic twist on your usual iced coffee! I'm Jessica Merchant from the How Sweet Eats YouTube channel, and today I'm excited to share with you the recipe for a Lavender Vanilla Iced Latte straight out of my new book, "The Pretty Dish." Whether it's a frosty morning or a warm afternoon, this beverage is perfect all year round. Let's dive in and create this irresistibly fragrant latte that you can enjoy every day of the week!

Ingredients:

- 1 cup granulated sugar

- 1 cup water

- 1 tablespoon dried culinary lavender petals

- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- Seeds from 1 vanilla bean pod (optional for extra vanilla flavor)

- Ice cubes, as needed

- Freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled (about 2 ounces per serving)

- Milk or milk alternative of choice, to taste

- Fresh lavender sprigs, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. In a small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water over medium heat. Whisk continuously until the sugar has dissolved completely.

2. Add the dried lavender petals to the saucepan. Allow the mixture to come to a simmer, then remove from the heat, cover, and let it infuse for about 15 minutes.

3. Strain the lavender petals from the syrup using a fine mesh sieve. Discard the petals.

4. Stir the vanilla extract and vanilla bean seeds into the syrup while it's still warm to release their flavors. Let the syrup cool to room temperature.

5. Fill a glass with ice cubes to your preference.

6. Pour the cooled lavender vanilla simple syrup over the ice, allowing it to sweeten the drink to your taste.

7. Add the milk or milk alternative to the glass, then pour over the cooled espresso or strong coffee.

8. Gently stir to combine the layers.

9. Garnish with fresh lavender sprigs if desired, for a beautiful and fragrant touch.

10. Enjoy your homemade Lavender Vanilla Iced Latte!

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes + 15 minutes infusion time

Total Time: 25 minutes

Equipment: Saucepan, whisk, fine mesh sieve, glass for serving

Cooking Tips: For a stronger lavender flavor, let the syrup infuse longer before straining. Adjust the amount of lavender vanilla syrup to suit your sweetness preference.

Servings: This recipe yields about 1 cup of syrup, which can make multiple lattes depending on your taste.
