Introduction From a Desparate Business Owner

Hey Hive Community,

I couldn't find a better time to introduce my product than today. It's Prime Day on Amazon, which means huge discounts! Check out my product here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CHCZQ1F3 —it's a baby set, a great gift for anyone with infants and toddlers. While you're checking it out, let me tell you about its story:

I launched this product about two months ago, and saying it's been a journey is an understatement. It all started with an idea to improve the products available on Amazon— we found that the market was lacking beautifully presented baby gift sets. So my and I husband started working on it.

Choosing the vendor

The first step was choosing the vendor—there are thousands of manufacturers on Alibaba, but finding one with good quality products, proper certifications, and relatively good shipping prices was not easy. We had received samples from a dozen of vendors and identified the most optimal option.

Prototyping

Then we started prototyping. There were many moments—from choosing item colours to doing the artwork designs. I had to learn a lot of different design tools to get it accomplished. If you want to learn more about that, let me know in the comments.

The hardest thing was making the prototype of the enclosure—how all the items would fit together in the box. We made several prototypes to see what would be most functional and look the best. There was communication friction with the vendor during that phase as I had to convey the product requirements and not settle on something mediocre.

Creating the product took us way longer than originally anticipated—almost a whole year of back-and-forth conversations with the vendor. We faced everything from misunderstandings with the vendor, and damaged samples, to production delays. There was so much drama 😅. I can tell you more about this experience and what I learned from it in a separate post. At least now, we know what not to do next time 🤣.

Amazon

After shipping was confirmed, a whole new challenge started—selling it on Amazon. From photoshoots and creating a presentable listing to marketing and advertising, there was a lot to learn. And Amazon really knows well how to profit from you. Can you imagine, that to advertise on Amazon, you actually need to pay them a monthly recurring subscription, but that's another story.

I’m still figuring out the best strategies, and I would love your support😍. If you live in US, make sure to check out the listing - I'd love to hear what you think of it, or if my listing needs improvements. If you're already experienced with selling on Amazon, I’d love to hear what strategies have worked best for you!

Also, as an idea, you can share your feedback and earn HBD—it's a win-win!

By the way if you in Waivio community and would like to support a fellow social.gifts website owner - you can buy product with their affiliate link.

Yours,

Kat
