Ben Carson was one of our heroes in the world now,he strive hard and determined,and through faith,he was able to accomplish his dream of becoming the world renowned pediatric neurosurgeon.
HIS LIFE
Ben Carson is the second child of Mr and Mrs Carson and his brother is Curtis. Many people looked down on Ben because he was a dummy(someone who doesn't know anything) but his mother was a good woman,she never did looked down on his son but encourage him and make sure she does everything for her children to become great in life.
Mrs Carson gave all her best even when her husband was not with her which happens to be Ben and Curtis' father. There father was a bigamist(someone who has a wife and children apart from his own family).
Despite how many names they gave Ben,he never gave up hope but focus on his dream of becoming a missionary doctor. The day Ben would erase the word "dummy" from people's mouth and prove to them he is not was the day he started reading books which his mother told him and his brother to always read and give him report everyday.
He was interested in reading about plants and rocks. So oneday,his science teacher walked into the class with a big shiny rock,he held it up and asked if the pupils can say its name,but no one could except for Ben and he got the answers correctly and since then,no one ever call him a dummy again.
That changed Ben's perspective that if only he could be reading,he would know and understands what he is been taught and other things he wants to know.
Ben's mother always say something to them,"A penny saved is a penny earned". She taught the children on how to manage their money since they were poor but there was a time Ben wanted a new cloth and a boot,he had always been insulted by the pupils in his new school that he was a poor boy without any money,but his mother explained to him about saving money. Thank God he obeyed his mother and focus on his studies.
HIS WEAKNESS
Ben has a weakness that troubles him so much,he has a bad temper that anytime he gets angry,he spoils thing. There was a day he yelled at his mum just because he never wanted the new pair of pant his mother bought for him,then his arm and his hand flew toward his mother.
Although,Ben was a good child but his anger seldom put him in trouble and when he gets angry,he looses control of himself. Oneday,something terrible happened that almost got him into trouble which he determined to change. He was with his friend when they were listening to a radio. Ben had wanted to listen to something else but his friend was turning it to another station,then suddenly Ben lost control and grabbed a knife from his pocket and lunged at his friend's stomach but thanks to God that it only hit the belt of his trouser and broke the metal.
Ben ran home locked himself in the Bathroom for four hours imagining what could have happened if the knife should kill his friend. He blamed himself and pray to God to help him with this temper and truly God answered his prayer.
HIS ACHIEVEMENT
Ben met Candy and they both got married with a baby named MURRAY. Ben met a neurosurgeon who kept telling him to come to Australia to fill the space of a senior registrar. He never wanted to accept the offer but he went with his wife. When his year was over in Australia,He was welcome back again to take his place at Johns Hopkins. Ben was only thirty-three years old by then.
Less than a year,he met a patient suffering from an hundred seizures each day. With the help of God,he was able to save her.
Then these are other surgeries he did;
He seperated the craniopagus Siamese twins named PATRICK and BENJAMIN BINDER.
He seperated another joined Siamese twins in January 1994. Their names were NTHABISENG and MAHLATSE MAKWAEBA. Though they died.
Another one was the set of twins(LUKA AND JOSEPH) from Zambia,he was called in December 1996 to come and operate them,through God's help,he operated them .
LESSONS TO BE LEARNT
Always focus on your dreams without minding what people say to you.
In every thing Ben does,he put God first. So also,we should put God first and pray to Him to guide us and our steps.
We should never relent as Ben did.
We should always THINK BIG
