POEM (BLOODLETTING)

images-23.jpg

Dirges from your devastated land
Reach the high heavens up above,
Emanating from war- worn widows,
Fettered orphans' ghostly features,
Litter all street, lanes and valleys
Rockets, grenades, bullet, bazooka bellow,
Munching to pieces fresh flesh of men,
Utilities shattered, communities fragmented,
Sodom and Gomorrah, soul mates of old .images-24.jpg

Pacific Ocean unfit to cleanse
Innocent blood flooding the streets,
Vultures feast at cannon's beckon,
Futile feuds birthing Tsunami,
Concessions forbidden, peaceful pact refusing,
Compromise, out rightly rejected,
Parties' egomania surely must show case,
Foolish actions, regrets ensured,
Only too late you lick the boot.

War is not good things. Let stop all act that can cause war between a country from one another or a nation.

Bloodletting meaning
The poem re-echoes the carnage of war and the inevitability of peaceful resolution. The horrors of war are vividly portrayed: the dirges for dead ones, the orphans of war, the shattered utilities; it a warning on the trivial issues which eventually lead to war. The poet pins wars down to the 'egomania' of the protagonists. She says their actions are foolish, and bound to end up in 'regret'.
