There's an inverse relationship in the authoritative mindset that order is created out of chaos. It's like it's their soul purpose, so ways to manufacture chaos are tried first until the right order can be set. This weeks episode of New World Next Week has Corbett and Pilato discussing first how the Patriot Act has been extended by the House. Before it can go on for another 3 months(why 3?), it will have to pass the Senate. It has been nested inside another bill to keep the government funded.
The second story is really intriguing and it's about a simulation that was done called Operation Blackout. The simulation was about a possible worst case scenario that can happen in the next selection cycle. What's intriguing to me is the notion that doing this in preparation seems to implant the notion that this is acceptable. Then, because it has been accepted as a normal occurrence, solutions will be introduced that have have already been planned for.
Third story is about how biometrics is, in a continuing theme of this episode, subtly being introduced into the collective consciousness. Media streaming companies like Netflix want to reduce people sharing their passwords. Plans are being made to have 2nd factor authentication and if that's not so effective then perhaps needing a fingerprint to access streaming services. Who knows how far that will go once it becomes commonly accepted that biometrics will be needed to access technology.
I think it's good to be vigilant of this stuff so that if there's a way to make a change, we can start now. The most effective means that we have is how we participate.
