To be honest, I have been to lots of cities and seen their Christmas markets. Still, Vienna is one of my favorites. Do you know why?
I guess the truth is that I love Vienna all year round. The city is amazing in the summer, in the winter, before the Christmas markets open, after the Christmas markets have closed... and definitely when they are open!
Vienna is a magnificent and royal city. During the period of the Christmas markets, it becomes magical as well.
They spend lots of money on the illumination of the Christmas markets in Vienna. That is easy to see because they look so special. This is especially true when it comes to the Christmas market at Rathausplatz. It is one of the most beautiful in Europe (some will say it is the most beautiful of them all).
But, the magic around Vienna is that Christmas is everywhere.
