He was a madman swept away, aware of his madness, and sought a means of avoiding his imminent confinement in a specialized clinic.
Perhaps he could avoid hospitalization if it proved to be his latest discovery that had revolutionized the world. He had discovered the secret of eternal life.
But he was not crazy enough to give this gift to mankind.
