IMPORTANT: Since I hold Verge (XVG) in my portfolio, there is a conflict of interest here.
The movie below - do not worry, it's family safe - basically says a lot about the relevance of the alliance of Verge and Pornhub.
From the beginning: Pornhub is one of the largest or largest adult entertainment streaming platform. More importantly, pornhub belongs to the Mindgeek group. This includes, among others, YouPorn, RedTube, Brazzers, Mydirtyhobby and Digital Playground.
In other words, Verge has been accepted as a form of payment by a member of the allegedly largest legal distribution network for adult entertainment (not to write pornography). Since the business of pleasure is actually somehow buzzing, whether trade war, economic slump or else, one can classify this cooperation as a solid increase in value.
What does this deal mean beyond that? As indicated in the movie below, the porn industry likes to be on the lead in introducing and enforcing new technologies. This circumstance is certainly not to be dismissed out of hand. If you look at the sales, this is after all a global multi-billion dollar market.
Another interesting fact is that they chose Verge. Bitcoin or Monero are so supposedly more prominent representatives of Altcoins, which is also said to be anonymity in the settlement of transactions. Also, these two are probably considered to be better established.
Why, then, Verge? If I - the author, who is not a technician / computer scientist - understood this correctly, Verge can be better used with Tor and I2P. While Tor may anonymize the history of visiting Web sites, other Altcoins would be more trackable when transforming from or into FIAT. In comparison, Verge should also offer at this "point of attack" the opportunity to blur their own tracks.
That sounds great, but tends to get the authorities on the scene when it opens up the possibility of money laundering and other dodgy transactions.
