What is a contribution to an Open Source project?

A project is Open Source when its codebase is public and editable, accessible by everyone. WordPress is Open Source, but also Steemit is Open Source, Busy is Open Source, Chrome is Open Source, many Facebook technologies are Open Source and there are millions of Open Source projects out there. Most of them are hosted on the famous platform Github.com. Utopian.io links your contributions with the related project on Github.

Contributing means you are doing something concrete for a specific Open Source project and using Utopian.io to share your work. The work must be verifiable and there must be a real effort behind it or the Utopian moderators will never allow your post in Utopian.

How to Participate

  • Visit https://utopian.io
  • Login. Utopian uses SteemConnect V2. A tool created by the amazing guys of Busy.org and maintained by Steemit itself. Your credentials are safe there.
  • Click on + Contribution, top right and choose the category that better fits your contribution.
  • Read and accept the rules for the category you have chosen
  • Write WordPress/WordPress inside the Github repository field and press enter. Click on the first result that will show up in the window.
  • Give it a nice title
  • Write about your contribution in details.
