Onion Dayak

The Dayak onion is known by the scientific name of Eleutherine bulbosa (Mill.) Urb, with the synonym of Eleutherine Palmifolia L.Merr. (Figure 1), including the Iridaceae tribe.

This plant originated in the Americas
in tropical climates, with characteristics of chronic herbaceous, with roots of rhizomes, tubers or tubers. The leaves are all or partly jostled at the base of the stem, often with one edge facing the stem (sword-shaped) and each other hugging with its mid-stem base. 2, irregular flowers, contained in a flower bed, each flower has a flower leaf. Tent flowers are colored, attached, taju 6 in two circles, bloom in the afternoon in a few hours. Benangsari 3, mostly free. Will fruit drown, bear 3; will be seeds per space a lot. Branched stem 3. Fruit box of many seeds (van Steenis, 2013). Dayak onions grow in mountainous areas between 600 - 1500 m asl. This plant likes the open places where the soil is rich with humus and moist enough.
