ULOG: 18 Understanding ulogs... The other 1/2 of Steemit. Vote @SteemGigs as witness!

A common greeting from my neck of the woods
(That might be redneck for "where I live") is...

Hey, how's it going?

Or you can shorten that to Howzit?

Even if you're having a not so good day, you're expected to say,
"Oh, pretty good, thanks, how about you?"

  • That is, unless we are good friends. Then anything goes...
    • "Oh man, you're not going to believe what _____fill in the blank_____ did."
    • "I am sooooo tired!"
    • "My back is killing me!"
    • "My pickup is making a strange noise."
      • Even if all of the above is on your mind, and an (just a plain ol') acquaintance asks Howzit?
The proper answer is "Oh, pretty good, thanks, how about you?"
  • Do you see the difference?

And that's why you should vote @SteemGigs for witness.

Oh, I see that confused look. You aren't getting it yet, are you?
Let me take you on a little history trip.
My day #1 on Steemit.

I first saw the Internet back in '95

  • I saw 2 things the Internet would do:

    • Connect People to People

    • Connect People to Information

It's a really good 1st day observation about Steemit, even if I do say so myself!

What is ulogs?
That part of Steemit connecting people to people.
How do you ulog?
Start writing a post about how you would answer if a good friend just walked up and asked Howzit?

Do you get it yet?
I had figured something out after 1 week on Steemit...

Steemit reminds me of my network marketing days...
It sounds intriguing to a lot of people...
Who will waste a lot of time and effort for zero reward.
They will search for and read all kinds of 'this is how to succeed on steemit' articles.
but they don't have what it takes to succeed
That may sound harsh, but it shouldn't.
Those people can still "profit" from this platform
as it grows and becomes the defacto social network.

and I quoted from this MLM article, comparing Steemit to network marketing businesses.

In the first year of operation, a minimum of 50% of representatives drop-out.
After five years of operation, a minimum of 90% of representatives have left the company.
By year 10, only those at or near the top have not dropped out – making it safe to say at least 95% of representatives have dropped out.

You can read the entire post here.

I had spent 1 week, countless hours combing through how-to Steemit articles, trying to find out how to "succeed" on this platform. It took me 150 more days to realize I totally missed something.

  • It took 18 ulog posts to finally get it!
    • Do you get it?
      • Are you ready for IT?

I'm reminded of the chorus from Signs by Five Man Electrical Band

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?

@surpassinggoogle found IT!

  • He joined Steemit to bring IT to Steemit.
    • Once more people see IT, Steemit will be AMAZING.
      • Once IT catches on, attrition rate will drop dramatically!

Here IT is...
Only a dummy would say...

they (95% of the people who try) don't have what it takes to succeed (on Steemit)

Me! That was me!
150 days ago, after reading tons of information on "How to succeed at Steemit."
That was me today, before something clicked before writing this ulog.

And that's why you should vote @SteemGigs for witness.

HINT: @surpassinggoogle = @SteemGigs witness

Forget all those other "How to succeed at Steemit" posts (signs)
and read a few posts by @surpassinggoogle

Here are some of his pearls of wisdom...

  • With ULOGS, "YOU", is what's pertinent and media formats e.g no-Vlogs, no-cameras, shyness etc should pose no barrier to you extending "YOU" to us and to the world, ever-constantly; "tirelessly".

  • ...we will create a fresh trend for #ulog/#ulogs on the entire web-space, filling it with the indispensable awesomeness called; "human"; steemhuman; "steemians".

  • shine ... like the "true celebrities" that we are: "light in the tunnel".

  • The essence of the #ULOGS movement is to remove "barriers to entry", when it comes to "mining the human"

  • ULOGS: There is nothing as fresh (in terms of content) as "pieces of us".

And that's why you should vote @SteemGigs for witness.

Do I have to spell it out for you?
OK

I always thought this was a 50/50 deal. The Internet...

  • Connects people to people
  • Connects people to information
    • Perhaps it's actually 95/5
    • Perhaps we've missed IT
      • Perhaps Facebook(connect people to people) makes more than
Google (connect people to information) because they get IT.

When 99.999% of our "How to succeed at Steemit" posts are causing 95% of those who try to succeed at Steemit to give up and drop out, we've missed IT!!!

Even, just 3 weeks ago, I was trying to figure out what quality content was and what it was worth.

  • Depending on your perspective,
all the quality content on Facebook is either worth $0 or $15.92 million/year.

  • Depending on your perspective,
Google's indexing of all the quality content on the Internet is either worth $0 or $12.662 million/year.

    • If you upvote this post for whatever reason, does that make it worth more?
      I dunno.

I'll ask again in a different way... What is quality content?

  • Is it worth more to read an awesome how-to post
    or
read a post about someone who assumed you were a close friend and you just asked Howzit?
    • Want some great content to curate?
      • Read a few ulogs from people all over the world and find out what their piece of the world is like.

What have we done?

We've made Steemit a place where 95% of the people who try it drop out.

  • Perhaps the problem was not them.
    • Perhaps the problem was us!!!
      • Perhaps the problem was not them.
        Perhaps the problem was us!!!

What has @surpassinggoogle done?

Terry built a way for not just 5% of the people who try Steemit to succeed,
but a way for 100% of the people who try Steemit to succeed.

  • He has started a new culture here on Steemit that is really starting to catch on!
    • He has realized the worth of posts from anyone about anything
      • regardless if that person can make a great looking post
      • regardless if that person can use perfect grammar
      • regardless if that person has something inspiring or thought provoking to say
    • Just 2 good friends having a conversation about life at the moment.
      • Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow & the next day...

And that's why you should vote @SteemGigs for witness.

So how's my day going?

Pretty good, thanks for asking! How about you?

Now wait just a minute...
This is a ulog haha
My dang kitty would not hold still so I could get a good pic to use on Steemit.
Here's the best one...

Ho Ho Ho

HeHe

And the really good news is my phone dried out 9 days after the accidental swim. I have switched to using it full time again, so no more running out of battery before running out of day! Woohoo!!!

Life is Good!
I hope you are having a GREAT day, too!

Meaning you can't
waste your vote

Speaking of @dustsweeper. If you happen to comment, be sure to let me know if you are using it.
That way I can upvote you my 2 cents and it will raise that up so it's not dust and you will actually get paid. Otherwise, I won't waste a vote on your comment. Make sense? If not, maybe you need to read this information...
