Yangtze River is Asia's largest and the third largest river in the world, which flows in China. Its length is 6300 kilo-meters i.e 3,917 miles. The name Yangtze—derived from the name of the ancient fiefdom of Yang—has been applied to the river mainly by those in the West. Chang Jiang (“Long River”) is the name used in China, although it also is called Da Jiang (“Great River”) or, simply, Jiang (“[The] River”). The Yangtze is the most important river of China. The China has also built a metro rail line across the Yangtze River to connect the two parts of the most densely populated city of Wuhan. The Yangtze River is also known as Chang Jiang in China. This river originates from the Qinghai Tibet Plateau in southwest China, through Central China and Eastern China, Shanghai is contained in the sea part of East China.
