The large number of drugs circulated through food or drinks prompted deep concern for these two teenagers from Tuban. They also created innovations in the form of narcotics detection devices in food or drinks.

The solution is called 'SI PENATOR' which is nothing short of Narcotic Inspector's Smart Ink Pen. This tool was created by Miftahul Gufroni and Salsadilla Luluk Ariyani, a class XI student at Rengel Tuban Vocational High School.

Miftahul explained, the tool was in the form of a ballpoint pen that used ink from an anthocyanin solution from dragon fruit extract and curcumin compound from turmeric extract.

"So the ink made from a solution of dragon fruit and turmeric is able to bind chemical compounds, especially narcotics," Miftahul Gufroni told reporters on Saturday (08/09/2018).

The way it works is by dripping ink from the pen over food or drinks suspected of containing narcotics. If food does not contain narcotic substances, the color of the liquid does not change.

Their work also won the scientific work competition entitled PCTA (Love Land Parade) held by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia. PCTA is a scientific work competition that focuses on innovation and creativity of Indonesia's young generation with the theme of Realizing the Young Generation of Anti Narcotics and Love Homeland in the Hall of the East Java Provincial Education Office.

Of the approximately 200 teams that registered from all high schools in East Java were selected into 20 teams that qualified for the final presentation and Rengel Tuban State Vocational High School succeeded in becoming the first champion and entitled to represent East Java province for the National PCTA Competition in Bandung at the national level held on the 17th of September.
