I left Portharcourt very early yesterday at about 5:30am to meet up the mourning train of Miss Seiyefa Fred by the National union of Bayelsa state students(Nubss). I'm in pains right now, didn't want to write about this but I decided to just so I'd be free from the grief I feel inside. 16 years old Seiyefa Fred was killed by suspected cultists on Thursday, 8th November in Amarata area of Yenagoa , Bayelsa State.

We were actually chatting at about 6pm little did I know that would be our last chat. She's my small overgrown friend. We met in School when she came for her verification. She was newly admitted into N.D.U so she asked my help to show her around the varsity environment, we exchanged numbers and that was how our friendship started. She's very humble and friendly.

According to her mother, Seiyefa had complain to her mum that she was hungry at about 8pm so her mum told her to go buy suya because where they sell suya is not far from their house. As she was about going out, her little niece of 2 years started crying that she wants to go with her so she carried the little kid. Her dad told her to place her phone very well so it won't slip and fall her nieces' hand so Seiyefa put her phone inside her pocket. On her way back to the house almost close to her compound gate, some masked guys who must have followed her shot her from the back and so she shouted her mum's name and then fell down on the floor. Her phone fell off her pocket as she fell and so one of the guys picked it up and when her mum ran to where she was, her mum saw the guys who wore mask running away after bending down to pick up her phone. She was already bleeding badly so her mum called for help but no one came to her aid because there was NEPA light and everyone must be busy seeing a movie or playing music inside their houses. Seiyefa was rushed to the hospital but she didn't make it. She had already bled too much and that must have been why she didn't make it.

The students of Niger Delta University came out in mass yesterday and are planning to take law into their hands if the police and state government don't fish out the culprits behind Seiyefa's death. The state of insecurity of something else right now in Bayelsa State. And this ASUU strike is another reason why Seiyefa lost her life, come to think of it why will Seiyefa be in Yenagoa if not for this stupid strike ASUU went on strike, I lost my course mate Pere and now my friend Seiyefa.

Seiyefa was a very young promising girl. Some people said she was struggling with the rubbers but that's not true. Why would she risk tge life of her 2 years old niece just because of a phone when she knows the guys were armed? Those cultist don't wear mask, truth is Seiyefa was murdered. She was shot from the back, it could be a mistaken identity. Maybe those guys were asked to go assassinate someone around Seiyefa's hood who fits her description. Maybe the person they were to go kill has a 2 years old kid like the one seiyefa was carrying. I wonder what her family will be going through now mourning her loss because i'm missing her already. I pray God gives her family the strength to bear her Loss.
