Provides equal sustenance and equal treatment to all. And the husband should be able to take care of them financially and emotionally. A Muslim man does not require permission from the law, court, or his existing wife or wife to get himself a next marriage.
Article 55(6) of the Personal Status Law imposes a condition on the husband to ensure equitable treatment between his wives if he has more than one wife. Article 77 of the same Law prohibits the husband from asking his wife to live with his other wives in the same marital home, under one exception if she agrees to the same.
A woman who is entering into a marriage contract can include a stipulation in the contract, mentioning that she has the right to divorce if her husband enters into a polygamous marriage.
In a case appealed in Abu Dhabi, the judges found that polygamy does not constitute a ground for divorce if the husband is treating the wife well with kindness.
