Amanda Davis, Award-winning TV Journalist & Veteran Morning News Anchor, Dies from Stroke at 62



MORNING TV NEWS ANCHOR AMANDA DAVIS DIED AT THE AGE OF 62 AROUND 9:30 P.M. ON TUESDAY

After suffering a sudden stroke while waiting to board a flight to her stepfather’s funeral in Texas on Wednesday, at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Tuesday. 

Davis was rushed to the hospital where she received emergency treatment but it was unsuccessful.

The Veteran Anchor worked at FOX5 Atlanta for 26 years and retired in 2013. She was also an anchor at CBS45, which she has joined in January, who paid her tribute when the news of her death broke. 


"Her family is asking for privacy at this difficult time," CBS 46 said in an online statement on Wednesday. "Amanda's friends and colleagues at CBS 46 are praying for her family."


Davis, an Emmy is award-winning Journalist. They Joined CBS46 as a Morning in January after 26 years at WAGA-TV. Davis Retired from WAGA in 2012 following a DUI-related arrest. In 2016, Davis opened up about her battle with alcoholism in an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

She told the Journal “ She wanted to stay sober so she could help others battle their addictions”

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed Tweeted “ Davis was an Atlanta News Icon and will be Missed ”

Still, there was outpouring sympathy and support on Twitter following the announcement, with many of Davis' remorse.
