Trump asks for a Van Gogh and they offer him a golden bathing cup

Donald Trump and his wife Melania wanted a New York museum to lend them a van Gogh painting to decorate their private rooms in the White House. According to The Washington Post, instead, the curator of the Guggenheim Museum gave them a clearly satirical counter-offer: a toilet made of pure gold by an Italian artist.

The presidential couple requested the painting "Landscape with Snow" by Van Gogh, in which a man appears walking in the company of his dog.

The curator of the museum, Nancy Spector, has openly criticized Trump through social networks. In September, he sent an e-mail message to the White House to indicate that the Trumps could receive a toilet loan that until mid-September had been used by visitors in a museum bathroom. The 18-carat toilet entitled "United States" is a criticism of Maurizio Cattelan to the greedy instincts of the nation. It is estimated that its value exceeds one million dollars.

Spector included a photograph in his e-mail and said: "We regret not being able to satisfy your original request, but we are hoping that this special offer will be of interest to you."

The toilet could be a "long-term loan," he wrote. "It is, of course, extremely valuable and somewhat fragile, but we would provide all the instructions for its installation and care."
