Canadians believe Trudeau has the right attitude to Trump, poll suggests


TORONTO | Nearly three out of four Canadians (72%) approve of Justin Trudeau's stance on the fiery US President Donald Trump, who imposed illegal surcharges on steel and aluminum, and called on the Canadian Prime Minister "Dishonest and weak" at the end of the last G7 summit held in La Malbaie.

A majority of Americans behind Trudeau

On the other hand, Justin Trudeau can be proud of having the approval of a majority of Americans. Canadians believe Justin Trudeau must stand firm to his American counterpart, with 79% of respondents approving Canadian economic retaliation for the US surtax on steel and aluminum.

The survey was conducted online from June 13 to 15 among 1001 Canadians aged 18 and over. The margin of error is 3.5 points, 19 times out of 20.
