Hello to everyone in the Family & Friends community! Today I'm here to share with you my visit to the city of Bogota, Colombia. This was a short stay, so I wanted to take advantage of as much time as possible and to see one of my friends (who I hadn't seen for years), who lives just in that place. Her name is Francelis, and I have spoken about her at some point in other communities. She emigrated to Colombia and we hadn't seen each other for two and a half years. So, there was a lot of emotion on both sides. Here I tell you all about it.

At the beginning of the year, in January, I finished my trip to Las Vegas and started the journey home which included a stopover in Colombia. Since there are no direct flights to my country. On that trip I decided to stay an extra day because that way I could visit my friend, as well as rest a bit since my next flight to Venezuela would not leave until the afternoon of the day after my arrival. I arrived in Bogotá at about 8:30 in the evening and went to the hotel where I had booked a room. With the good fortune that I was met by a very kind taxi driver who gave me some guidance, waiting outside the hotel to certify that I was in the right place and offering the service for the next opportunity.

¡Hola a todos en la comunidad de Family & Friends! El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes lo que fue mi visita a la ciudad de Bogotá, Colombia. Esta fue una breve estancia, por lo que deseaba aprovechar todo el tiempo posible y poder ver a una de mis amigas (a quién tenia años sin ver), que reside justamente en ese lugar. Ella se llama Francelis, en algún momento he hablado de ella en otras comunidades. Ella emigro a Colombia y teníamos unos 2 años y medio sin vernos. Por lo cual, había mucha emoción por parte y parte. Aquí les cuento todo.

A principios de año, por Enero, yo terminaba mi viaje a Las Vegas y comenzaba el recorrido para volver a casa el cual incluía una escala en Colombia. Ya que no hay vuelos directos a mi país. En aquel viaje decidí quedarme un día más porque de esa forma podría aprovechar para visitar a mi amiga, así cómo también, descansar un poco ya que mi próximo vuelo a Venezuela no saldría hasta la tarde del día siguiente a mi llegada. Llegué a Bogotá a eso de las 8:30 de la noche y me trasladé al hotel donde había reservado una habitación. Con la buena suerte que me tocó un taxista muy amable que me oriento un poco, esperando afuera del hotel para certificar que estaba en el lugar correcto y ofreciendo el servicio para la próxima oportunidad.

That night I settled in and saw with resignation that I had been given a room with a double bed and I could have taken advantage of the fact that she was staying with me. I didn't know when I booked. However, we had already spoken in advance to meet in the morning, so the meeting was bound to happen sooner or later. That night I slept very comfortably as it was a bit chilly in the city which helped me to fall asleep. At about seven in the morning, I got in touch with Fran (that's what we call her) and she told me she was on her way. We wanted to go somewhere where we could walk around and get to know the city a bit, but we decided that it would be best not to go too far because of the proximity of the flight.

That's how Fran arrived and we hugged like we hadn't hugged in a long time. She looked the same as when I last saw her, but of course a lot had happened over the years. We got our things and went to breakfast. She taught me about empanada fillings and I found out about lechon, caldo de res and my favourite, guanabana juice. Sitting there we caught up on certain things that we wanted to know and that by text message is not usually the best way to find out. And so the middle of the day came and went, as we ate, walked around and returned to the hotel to go to the airport.

Esa noche me instalé y ví con resignación que me habían dado una habitación con doble cama y pues podría haber aprovechado a que ella se quedara conmigo. No lo sabía para cuando reserve. Sin embargo ya habíamos hablado con anticipación para encontrarnos en la mañana por lo que el encuentro se daría tarde o temprano. Esa noche dormí muy cómoda pues había cierto frío en la ciudad lo cual me ayudó a conciliar el sueño. Ya a eso de las siete de la mañana, me escribí con Fran (así le decimos) y me dijo que iba en camino. Deseabamos ir alguna zona donde pudiéramos pasear y conocer un poquito la ciudad, pero decidimos que lo mejor sería no alejarnos mucho por lo cercano del vuelo.

Así es cómo llegó Fran y nos abrazamos como en mucho tiempo no nos habíamos abrazado. Ella lucía igual a cómo cuando la vi por última vez, pero por supuesto muchas cosas habían pasado alrededor de todos esos años. Cogimos nuestras cosas y nos fuimos a desayunar. Ella me enseñó sobre los rellenos de las empanadas y descubrí lo qué es el lechón, el caldo de res y mi favorito, el jugo de guanabana. Allí sentadas nos pusimos al tanto de ciertas cosas que deseabamos saber y que por mensaje, no suele ser el mejor medio para enterarse. Así se nos dió el medio día, mientras comíamos, caminábamos por el alrededor y volvíamos al hotel para ir al aeropuerto.

Once we were more comfortable, we shared some of the gifts we had, chatted a bit more and packed our bags to leave. Once at the airport, as there was still a long way to go (about two hours) before check-in, we sat down for a coffee. I must say that after some time of not being able to meet each other, at first it felt a bit strange but as the day went on, we went back to being the same as always. It was a bit painful because we had to say goodbye again. I remember feeling happy because I could see her, but I felt very sad when we hugged and I walked away from the entrance. She stood waiting, while I walked forward, until I signalled that she could go and she left. This trip was meaningful, because even though I didn't know the city, I got to see her and that was valuable and enough. Without further ado, thank you very much for stopping by. A big hug.

Ya más cómodas, compartimos algunos detalles (regalos) que teníamos, charlamos un poco más y arreglamos las maletas para irnos. Ya en el aeropuerto cómo aún faltaba bastante (unas dos horas) para hacer el chequeo, nos sentamos a tomar un café. Debo decir que luego de algún tiempo de no poder encontrarnos, al principio se sentía un poco extraño pero conforme fuimos pasando el día, volvimos a ser las mismas de siempre. Siendo un poco doloroso porque ya debíamos despedirnos nuevamente. Recuerdo que sentía alegría porque pude verla, pero sentí mucha tristeza cuando nos abrazamos y yo me alejaba de la entrada. Ella se quedó esperando, mientras yo avanzaba, hasta que le hice señas de que podía irse y ella se fue. Este viaje fue significativo, pues aunque no conocí la ciudad, pude verla a ella y eso fue muy valioso y suficiente. Sin más que decir, muchísimas gracias por pasar por aquí. Un fuerte abrazo.
