The Gobelsberg - a quick walk to great views

In this story I am going to present you a nice and quick hike I did some weeks ago.

The Gobelsberg is located at the border of the municipalities of Langenlois, Hadersdorf-Kammern and Gedersdorf in Lower Austria.

When I walked up the hill I parked my car in the cellar alley between Gedersdorf and Hadersdorf and walked up a trail called "Kranzgraben".

At the beginning, the trail is still asphalted, later on you come to the vineyards.

When I did this hike it was just at the beginning of autumn, now almost all leaves have already fallen off.

After just 15 to 20 minutes walk you reach a lookout tower that has built in the 1990s. Admission is free - so just walk up!

Although the lookout tower is just 303 meters above sea level, the views are just wonderful and you can see the already mentioned municipalities of Langenlois, Hadersdorf-Kammern and Gedersdorf, but also Grafenegg, Rohrendorf bei Krems as well as parts of the city of Krems an der Donau.

It is said, that on days with clear sight you can count 37 church steeples.

I chose the "Reisental", a hollow way, for my way back. This way is not as steep as the "Kranzgraben" and asphalted.

In the vineyards you can see small caves in the Loess that might be used as shelter.

After about 20-25 minutes you are back in the cellar alley.

There are also other possibilities to reach the Gobelsberg, for example from Gobelsburg (a cadastral municipality of Langenlois) or from Hadersdorf.
