Terracore: Devlog #15 - NFT Marketplace Progress & Plans

Hey Fellow Citizens!

Hope everyone had a good week! I have been somewhat quiet as we have been tirelessly working on the next major update for Terracore. Today, I will lay out a bunch of new information about where we are in the development progress and what to expect over the next couple of weeks in the ALPHA. Also, a huge thank you and congratulations to our 800 citizens! It gives me so much joy to see so many people coming to enjoy something I have been working on for some time!

Progress Report


If you have been hanging out in the Discord, you may have seen what has been cooking in the background over the last two weeks. The early community said, "You know what would make this game really epic... NFTs." I have been looking at all the options available on Hive/HE and wanted something that had more customization and could live on HIVE, so I took the leap and created a new NFT system and marketplace that runs on HIVE.

Before I continue, I also need to give a major shoutout to @asgarth for helping with the frontend side of this. He will be providing one of the first 3rd party frontends for this over at @terracorehub.

There will be some basic UI added to the core game UI that will allow the player to open, view, and equip items on their player. The bulk of the rest will be left to 3rd parties to make the frontend trading experience better.

The basics of the new NFT market are that there will be crates that can be purchased at a set rate for common and uncommon using $SCRAP in the store. This will allow for another sink for $SCRAP and another way for players to earn items in the game through playing. You will also be able to complete tasks on planets (boss fights, exploration, missions, etc.), most likely once per day, that will give you a chance to find (loot or NFT crates). You will only be able to acquire rare and above crates from these missions; they will not be sold. Each chest type has different drop rates for any rarity of NFT. The rarity of the NFT dropped will affect the number of attributes and the affixes that roll on the NFT. Each NFT will be unique and can roll its own stats, so opening and finding new items will always be exciting. These NFTs will also be able to be salvaged/burned to remove scrap from them based on the stats of the item as a crafting mechanic. So, if you are searching to roll an item with the perfect stats, you can destroy the items you think are not worth your bagspace 🤠.

I really believe that this release will bring endless possibilities to my larger vision of the game, and I am hoping that, after having these two core gameplay systems stabilized, we will be able to start transitioning into the beta period of Terracore. We are aiming to begin testing this system with test items by the last week of April. Keep tabs in the Discord and follow the blog to stay updated.
