Heihachi's Back For Tekken 8, It Shouldn't Be Surprising

I assume the developers of Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 were secretly communicating with each other or were on the same wavelength.

Street Fighter 6's Year One Pass kicked off with the return of M. Bison the then-leader of Shadaloo who was (supposedly) killed by Ryu after Charlie failed to do so. M. Bison survived the battle, though I shouldn't be surprised, and lived as a homeless nomad only to return and take back his power. I figured Capcom would bring M. Bison back because he's too popular to (officially) kill off.

I wonder what the Year Two Pass offers though we won't see it until late 2025 or early 2026.

At the 2024 Evolution Championship Series, Bandai Namco unveiled new trailers for Tekken 8. The first trailer revealed a collaboration with Nike for digital in-game items and limited edition sneakers with the latter available for pre-order at EVO 2024. Your characters can now be dressed in Nike brand apparel.

The limited edition sneakers are rumored to launch in September in “Kazuya Mishima” and “Jin Kazama” versions.

Imagine the value of the sneakers if they get autographed by Katushiro Harada.

That's only the tip of the iceberg though...

Another trailer revealed the third character for the Season One Pass which included Eddy Gordo (who debuted in Tekken 3) and Lidia Sobieska (who debuted in Tekken 7). I'm shocked but not remotely surprised at the return of Heihachi Mishima, the antihero of the entire Tekken franchise.

Damn it, Raven, you didn't do your due diligence in checking if Heihachi was actually dead or NOT.

Like Capcom's refusal to permanently kill M. Bison, Bandai Namco obviously refuses to permanently kill Heihachi Mishima. Those two are incredibly popular fighting game characters. I had the feeling that Heihachi was going to return.

I hope the extended story mode reveals the actual connection between Heihachi and Reina. I also hope it reveals how Reina received the Devil Gene because it's not present in the Mishima bloodline but in the Kamijo bloodline.

Heihachi, like M. Bison, cheated death.

Heihachi, like M. Bison, wandered the world.

The extended story mode reveals the existence of a splinter faction of the Mishima Zaibatsu who live as warrior monks with the intent of destroying the very organization. Heihachi disguises himself and puts on a mask before taking down the “monks.”

I'm curious about how Heihachi survived falling into the lava.

Heihachi joins the roster this Autumn. It's only a matter of time before we learn about the fourth and final character for Year One.

Read my extended version here.
