A few days ago, Boston Dynamics presented new capabilities of its robot called SpotMini on the film. The device has been equipped with several cameras and can now map the space in which it moves, and on this basis create a three-dimensional map of the world, to better orientate in difficult terrain and to overcome it faster.
It comes in very nice, because the robot can not only find itself among the large objects towering over it, but also can avoid it, choose an easier road or climb the stairs, both back and front.
SoftBank, a Japanese technology giant who specializes in state-of-the-art technologies, informed the robot during the presentation that it will be manufactured 100 this year, and will be available for sale next year.
Prices have not been disclosed yet, but the company's representative said that this version of the robo-animal is 10 times cheaper than its predecessor.
If we look at the price of SpotaMini through the prism of similar devices of the competition and their valuations, in the form of Chinese Laikago or Swiss ANYmala, we can expect that it will be available for approximately 30 thousand dollars.
This is not an exorbitant amount, as for such an advanced device. The robot weighs 30 kilograms, can carry loads weighing up to 45 kilograms, and the batteries installed on its board allow it to work for 1.5 hours.
