Sony prepares a version of PlayStation VR, the new VR viewer for the PS4

A year after its debut, it updates the benefits of the virtual reality glasses for the Japanese console

Sony is, along with Samsung, the leader in the market of virtual reality glasses in quantity of units sold, with its PlayStation VR for its line of consoles PS4, an accessory cheaper than Oculus Rift or HTC Vive.

The company confirmed that it will soon stop selling the current model and will start offering a new one, one year after it hit the market, in October 2016.

This new version of the PlayStation VR continues to be compatible with the PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro video game consoles, and adds integrated headphones with positional audio, that is, they change according to the user's movements, if he turns on himself, and so on. It also adds a microphone to chat with other players.

But it also adds compatibility with content prepared for the HDR standard, which came to the TVs last year, which is also on the consoles and enables better image quality, both for movies and video games.

This new model of Sony's virtual reality glasses will go on sale in Japan on October 14, at the same price as the previous model.
