The fight for the creation of super-computer: The United States overtook China.

The United States has moved far ahead of China in the competition of super-computer creation.

US scientists claim that the last super-computer created by them is almost twice the number of super-computers considered to be the world's number one power and speed.

This new super computer has been named 'Summit'. It can calculate two million trillions per second. The unit that measures the power of super-computer, its ability is about two hundred 'petaflops'.

It has been made in Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee, USA. IBM and Nvidia have created this supercomputer.

To date, the world's number one super-computer was considered to be China's Sunway Taiulite. Its processing power was Ternabwe Petaflop every second.

Super-computers are usually so large in size, making them very expensive. There are millions of processors in them, which are designed to calculate particular types of calculations.

The US-made Summit Super-Computer will be used initially in astrophysics, cancer research and system biology work.

Summit super-computer has 4608 compute servers. Its memory is ten petabytes.

It was first launched on June 8th.

Director of the National Laboratory, Dr. Thomas Jacharia said that this supercomputer is actually being used in step-by-step process when it was being developed.

And

Competition to create super-computer:

In the latest super-computer list published in 2017, it shows that 143 of the world's five hundred supercomputers are in the United States, and 202 are in China.

That is, China is far ahead of the United States.

Before creating the summit, Titan was the most powerful super-computer in the United States. It was at the fifth place in the world ranking.

US Energy Minister Rick Perry, who was present at the launch of the Summit, said, "We know that we are in a competition. So, who can go before, it is important."

According to him, America has been able to show the world that they have come back to this competition.

He said Summit is so strong as a super-computer that if all the information submitted for thirty years is kept on a desktop, then summit can be analyzed in just one hour.
