[3D Printing Guide 1.3] - Why do I need a 3D printer?

Well that question is asked to me nearly on a daily basis... I think it is the most asked question when it comes to 3d printing on the whole world. People often think a 3D printer is some useless device nobody really need but when you realize what different products or parts can be printed it is just awesome!

So what shall I print with a 3d printer?

From affordable prostheses (for children and adults) to tools, art, products, parts, prototypes or some broken parts for your mixer in the kitchen. The possibilities are endless & I printed hundrets of things over the years - here are a few:

Do I not have to learn CAD?

Of course if you want to design your own products you have to learn drawing - there are nowadays a lot of different programms available... expensive ones or even good free ones. We will discuss the topic "CAD - Software" in a later article. The best is that you can use someone others design what people share and print them immediately. So there are so many usefull things out now today it what you only need to print. Look on Thingiverse - you could print for years products without draw one line: http://www.thingiverse.com/
