Sharp announces support for the Micro Four Thirds standard

With a statement of a few lines, Olympus and Panasonic announced that Sharp will join the group that aims to spread the Micro Four Thirds (MQT) standard.

Both companies are committed to creating solutions with this form factor so much that Panasonic has just launched at the Lumix G90 while Olympus has presented the OM-D E-M1X .

Sharp, for its part, presented a camera with a sensor in the Micro Four Thirds format that aims above all to be a solution for videos. Just in these hours the joint official note of the three companies has arrived.

In the official press release we read "we are pleased [Olympus and Panasonic ed.] To announce that Sharp Corporation has recently declared its support for the Micro Four Thirds standard and will present products conforming to the standard".

We already know that Sharp will present new products in the future based on the Micro Four Thirds standard (and in particular we talk about devices with 8K support ). The other two brands, on the other hand, aim to have a further expansion of the standard that can thus be strengthened against the competition. All that remains is to wait for the next announcements from the three companies, in particular Sharp , to understand how the market will react to the possible expansion of this format.
