Đavolja Varoš(Devil's Town)

Đavolja Varoš is a special rock formation, located in south Serbia on the Radan Mountain.

Đavolja Varoš has 202 special designed objects.These pyramids are tall up to 15 meters,and they can be wide from 4 to 6 meters.At top these nature wonder has rock that prevents further erosion.That rock is called andesite.These shapes were made by erosion and volcanic activity few million years ago.Surrounding terrain is full of mines from the age of Nemanjić Serbia.People cut down whole forests around Đavolja Varoš so it has such a specific look.

These location is protected by Serbian government.It is treated like major natural monument and it was a nominee in the New Seven Wonders of Nature campaign.

Water

There are two springs places near figures.

Devil's water is a spring thousand times richer with minerals than ordinary drinking water.Water is cold and pH is 1.5(highly acid)

Red well is less acid(3,5) and it contains less minerals,but it has a lot of Iron,so water has unordinary red color.

Church of Saint Petka

There is a church from 13th century that was rebuilt a few years ago.Local people dedicated it to Saint Petka.If people are ill they come to church and pray,after that they tie scarf to the tree outside and after one week they come to bury it.By local believes people will not be sick if they do it.

Ivan's fortress


There are only remains for fortress left.Only one tower left to be exact.It is tall 14 meters.
