Hey..how are you? Hmmmm....what's your name again?

Do you have that feeling where you are walking and another person walking towards you are starring at you like waiting for you to acknowledge him or her. Suddenly your mind starts rebooting and searching in the archive for any information that can relate to that person walking towards you. As you get closer and closer...your trying to decide do i say 'hi' and smile...or do i just ignore...decisions..decisions. What if i say 'Hi' and that person ignores you and you will feel embarrass that the person does not know you. What if i ignore that person and he or she will feel hurt that you forgot about him or her.

Do you have that feeling? do you? because i do....lol!

As i go through the net in search for answers of this memory loss...there was an interesting article with how our brain works and eventually there are two types of storage in our Brain, the Long-Term and the Short-Term.

Lets talk about the short-term storage. It's part of the brain where you can hold a little part of information and if your not focus on it, it will fade away. Not kept, not saved, deleted, and backspaced...lol

"You can hold just a little bit of information there and if you don't concentrate on it, it fades away rapidly," Paul Reber, a psychology professor at Northwestern University

The Long-Term storage however needs to link a few sets of information before it can be saved into our memory. For instance, i met Jennifer at a Bar and she came from the same hometown as me. So the link between Jennifer's name to my hometown will then be transferred into a permanent 'hard drive' memory in my brain. The more information linked items you get...the higher chances it will be stored.

However, i have a different case. I know i knew that person but i can't recall where and when did i met him/her...is it from a work related place or someone i worked with before...or someone i went for a drink with or even have sports session with...again...decisions...decisions. Sometimes you just made the wrong call and wrongly connected him or her to the wrong link and got embarrassed...lol. Saying like...'hey...how is your kids?' and they will say 'kids?'...and then you will try to change the subject and try other random information in hope of hitting the correct one...lol.

Have you got that feeling? have you ever faced this problem? welcome to the cub...lol

Well, there are no medical cure for it, only ways you can boost your memory. Practice though may help remember better by reading articles and ways to remember. As you grow older, the same as 'hard drives' space is getting less, can't upgrade memory as the processor does not support the new upgrades.

Don't be to worried about it though, just smile to everyone who you think is gonna smile back to you...anyway, smile is free to give away. It will make someones day a brighter one.

Before i end, i just wanted to apologies to everyone whom i may have ignored...it's not that i don't want to...but this 'hard drive' needs complete rebooting and upgrade...lol.

Steem On...
